That can be soul destroying.
Walk round any quilt exhibition or display and you can immediately get thrown into a melee of (frankly unhelpful) thoughts along the lines of "I'll never be as good as them".
That can be as equally as soul destroying.
All of us have moments of self-doubt or worry about what others think of us.
But here's the thing: these negative thoughts, either from yourself or others, do not define you or your (potential) skills as a quilter.
Your quilt-y makes are a reflection of your love, your unique perspective and your creativity, and that's something to be proud of.
Those who have a negative opinion can't quilt - otherwise they wouldn't have that negative opinion.
You know (as quilters, we ALL know) how much work, skill and talent goes into making a quilt.
And your own negative opinions belong in a box where you've thrown away the key.
Every quilt you make reflects your unique style and creativity. It's not about pleasing others or comparing yourself with others; it's about expressing yourself and bringing your own vision and your creativity to life.
So, ignore the critics, and let go of any self-doubt or worry about what others might think, and focus on doing what you love.
Then simply fill your stitches with that love.
What more could your quilts ask of you?
