Hi, I'm Kim
I am the founder of Quilt With Kim and have created this site as a resource for beginners at patchwork and quilting.

I've been helping beginners learn patchwork and quilting for over seven years, and I LOVE seeing the creativity and magic that is created in my students' lives.

I teach both in person and have a selection of online courses, so whether you're local to me in Gloucestershire (in the UK) or are further afield somewhere around the globe, I will be able to help you.

Read on for a little bit more about me.
Married To Nige
I'm married to Nige - second time for both of us and we live on the Gloucestershire/Herefordshire border in the UK with our cat, Shadow.

We met whilst learning to dance (modern jive), and both still share a love of swing dance.

In our spare time, we both love to cook and coud probably be classed as foodies. Nige loves hill walking and I really don't, but we both love walking on deserted beaches, whatever the weather.

I've fallen in love with yoga and Nige loves all things DIY.  Although he doesn't sew, Nige rather annoyingly took to long arm quiting on the very first time he tried it. Go figure.

The Two Biggest Loves of My Life
...are obviously my two kids, Sam (my son) and Charlie (my daughter).

Not so much 'kids' anymore, but as they start carving their own path in their own lives, I couldn't be prouder of them.

Sam & Charlie - if you're reading this, I love you both from the bottom of my heart.

NB And they both do smile lots although this photo seems to suggest otherwise :-D
How I Came To Teach Quilting
I started sewing at eight years old and continued through my teens. It took a back step in my 20's whilst I started my old career (marketing) in London and I picked it back up again when I had my kids in 30's.  School plays seemed to necessitate various shepherd, Mary and sheep costumes.

I never quite found my sewing home until I stepped into a quilt shop over a decade ago - and immediately fell in love with all the creativity, patterns, stitching and satisfaction that quilting gives. Not to mention the laughs with my fellow students.
My Soul Came Home
Next came my City & Guilds in Patchwork & Quilting (hard work but worth it) and, after my mum passed away, my own bricks and mortar quit shop. When mum went - at just 67 - I came to the realisation that life is too short for doing what you don't want to do, and that we are all put on this earth to find joy and happiness in what we do.

I've always loved to teach and so it seemed a natural progression to teach beginner sewing, patchwork and quilting in my little shop.

Finally I found my soul its own home, and - although I no longer have the physical shop (purely online these days) - I adore teaching this amazing hobby both in person and to my online students. The laughs, the friendships, the new skills and creativity that I can unleash in my students is second to none. Thank you for being part of that!
A Small Handful Of Love
Checked me out and want to start quilting?
I don't blame you!

It's an amazing, creative and magical hobby. Plus it's incredibly good for our mental and emotional health. There's no wonder why SOOOOO many of my students and group members say that quilting is their happy place.
